Shotgun Instructor Training Course

This couorse is for training Shotgun instructors and requires a minimum of 1 year shooting experience with shotguns to be eligible to take this course.

This course gives the students the skills, knowledge and attitude necessary to become a shotgun instructor who can teach the basic shotgun shooting program. Skills learned are how to teach, shooting positions, body positions, shot mechanics, sight picture, parts of a shotgun, ammunition type and uses, Windchester Marksmanship Program, shooting activities, practical exercises, safe gun handling, cleaning and care of shotguns, shooting skills development.

Passing this course qualifies you to become a shotgun merit badge counselor upon approval of your local scout council. You MUST take the merit badge counselor training course to become a merit badge counselor.

Class limited to adults 21 and older to become certified instructors.
Youth 18 to 21 can become assistant instructors upon certification.

Class Locations - Friday and Saturday - Pacific Skyline Council Scout Offices, 1150 Chess Blvd, Foster City, Ca. 94044
Sunday at a range - Location details given at class.

Class Times - Friday 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Lunch is the students responsibility.

Class Size - 4 minimum to 16 maximum.

National Rifle Association is the only one who can issue Certification(s).

Additional Fees are required to be paid to NRA to become a Certified Instructor / Range Safety Officer over and above the course fee.

Completion of these NRA courses does not certify you as an Instructor / Range Safety Officer until you have submitted your application along with the appropriate fees to the NRA and the NRA has reviewed the application and approved the application for certification.

Once approved the NRA will issue your certification credentials. This usually take 6-8 weeks.

Only once you receive your NRA credentials may you train / supervise others in the subjects for which you are certified.
